Camerata Nordica is a diverse ensemble comprised of members from various European countries. Over the years, several cellists have performed the cello part for the ensemble. This project provides them with the opportunity to collaborate and perform together.

The concert program showcases two well-known pieces – Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1 and No. 5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos. These pieces are part of a series of nine suites in which the composer draws inspiration from Brazilian folk music and J. S. Bach.

In addition to the Villa-Lobos pieces, the ensemble will also present Giovanni Sollima’s composition “Violoncelles, vibrez!” which has garnered international acclaim since its premiere in 1993. The program will also include Grieg’s “Solveig’s Song,” the Overture from “The Barber of Seville,” Dvorák’s “Silent Wood” (originally written for piano four hands but later transcribed for cello and piano, and cello and orchestra by the composer himself).
