Program

  • J.H. Roman The Swedish Mass, Ro. 63

Johan Helmich Roman, often called “the father of Swedish music”, spent his last days mainly on his estate Lilla Haraldsmåla in Ryssby parish and is buried in an unknown place in Ryssby church. He was ahead of his time and wanted to establish an academy for music studies in Sweden, something he himself would never get to experience. He is best known for Drottningholmsmusiken, but also wrote a lot of other music, e.g. The Swedish Mass which will now be performed in a collaboration between Länsmusiken, Barn och Unga, Oskarshamn Folkhögskola and musicians from Camerata Nordica.
