The artists
The concert
This May, Camerata Nordica invites you to experience a rarely seen part of musical life: the audition process.
As the orchestra recruits a new violinist and violist starting in 2027, audiences are welcome to attend and discover how different musicians bring their own artistic voice, sound and interpretation to the same music. From a classical concerto to chamber music repertoire, the auditions offer a insight into the many ways technique, musicality and communication can take shape on stage.
Following a blind video preselection from over 100 applications, a handful of musicians have been invited to perform live in Kalmar. Candidates will perform a movement from a classical concerto: Mozart, Hoffmeister or Stamitz, as well as a movement from a Brahms trio.
Visitors are free to join for a short moment or stay for the entire session, following the process as candidates perform for the audition panel, which will announce the musicians selected to join Camerata Nordica the following day.
Whether you are a musician, music enthusiast or simply curious about what happens behind the scenes in a professional chamber orchestra, this is a unique opportunity to experience the artistry and detail behind an orchestral audition.
