The concert

The Camerata Nordica Octet returns to the US in January 2027!

The repertoire draws from the ensemble’s signature programme: Swedish folk arrangements by K.J. Ankarblom, The Nordic Seasons by Hanna Helgegren — a work commissioned by and written for Camerata Nordica, performed alongside a film capturing the landscapes of Sweden through the four seasons — and string chamber masterworks including Mendelssohn’s towering Octet in E-flat major, op. 20, and Mozart’s Grande Sestetto Concertante. Shostakovich’s Two Pieces for String Octet, op. 11, rounds out a programme that moves from the deep roots of Scandinavian folk tradition to the height of the classical canon.

Beyond the concert stage, the visit also includes an educational component, with members of the octet engaging directly with students through masterclasses at select institutions. For young string players, it is a rare opportunity to work alongside and learn from musicians who bring both a distinctive Scandinavian voice and a wealth of international experience to their craft.
