Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) was composed for the 1734–1735 Christmas season, after he had served as cantor in Leipzig for eleven years and wished to create something grand for the festival. In this beloved masterpiece, festive choruses, arias, and recitatives are intertwined. Today, the oratorio is a global Christmas tradition. The concert is performed in collaboration with the Kalmar Cathedral Parish and the Kalmar Cathedral Choir.
