The concert

As autumn settles in, Camerata Nordica revives its tradition of candlelight chamber evenings with a programme that takes the piano trio from elegant wit to profound emotion.The concert opens with Germaine Tailleferre, the sole woman of the celebrated Les Six, whose Piano Trio brings a distinctly French luminosity and playful clarity to the evening.

At its heart comes Mozart’s Trio in B flat major K. 502, one of his most refined chamber works, full of warmth and conversational grace between the three instruments.

The concert closes with Dvořák’s Dumky Trio, a deeply personal work built on the Slavic dumka form, alternating between melancholy and exhilaration across six movements that together make one of the most emotionally gripping journeys in all of chamber music.

Performing these three works by candlelight are violinist Colin Scobie, a long-standing and loved guest with Camerata Nordica, Welsh pianist Jâms Coleman, making his debut with us, and cellist and artistic director Zéphyrin Rey-Bellet.
