Peter and the Wolf

Peter and the wolf with Camerata Nordica

Once upon a time there where a little boy who got to accompany his mother from their little village outside of Donetsk in Ukraine, then a part of Russia, all the way to Moscow or St Petersburg in order for her to get piano lessons. The little Sergei Sergeyevich listened to his mother Maria practicing day and night. This inspired him, only five years old to compose his first piece of music, Indian Gallop in F, lydian scale since he had not yet learned to master the black keys on the keyboard. At nine Sergei Prokofiev composed his first family opera The Giant for his family to perform. By the nineteenth century had turned into the twentieth century, a century that was about to regard Prokofiev as one of the most famous and prominent composers. 1936 he received the mission from a friend to compose a symphony for children. Peter and the Wolf came to be one of the most performed pieces of classical music of all times. You are about to hear a smaller ensemble from Camerata Nordica perform one of the many chamber music versions of the immensely popular orchestral tale of Peter and The Wolf.
The one who, together with all of the instruments in Camerata Nordica, will tell you the story is Urban Wedin.
