The concert

100 years ago, Axel “Döderhultarn” Petersson passed away in his studio in Oskarshamn.
Now, the jubilee year 2025 will conclude with a brand-new musical featuring 130 choir singers, soloists, dancers, and orchestra with string musicians from Camerata Nordica. The musical is arranged by RUM i Oskarshamn, Oskarshamns kommun via Kulturskolan/Kulturhuset, in collaboration with Estetiska programmet, Länsmusiken Kalmar Län, Oskarshamns folkhögskola, Högalids folkhögskola.

The work is written by Nils-Petter Ankarblom, originally from Mönsterås, who has composed the musical Handbook for Superheroes (Handbok för Superhjältar) and served as music director for major productions on Sweden’s largest stages, including Dear Evan Hansen, Beetlejuice, and Matilda.

“In the musical, I want to tell the story of someone who manages to turn their weaknesses into a strength — a story we can all be inspired and touched by,” says Nils-Petter.
“I am incredibly happy that we are joined by our enormous choir of local singers, ranging in age from 9 to 89! This is how such a story should be told: by the community itself, with pride and joy.”
